Luxury in the heart of Sandton is getting a fresh perspective as SEVEN Hotel, Villas & Spa unveils an R18 million refurbishment designed to make a hotel stay about more than beautiful interiors.
The five-star property, part of The Capital Hotels Group, has refreshed all 61 of its accommodation options, comprising 44 rooms and 17 villas, including its Presidential Villa Suite. The relaunch places emphasis on sensory experiences, privacy and creating a peaceful retreat away from Johannesburg’s busy business district.
Located on Helen Road in Strathavon, SEVEN offers a secluded setting surrounded by greenery, while remaining close to Sandton’s commercial hub and approximately two kilometres from the Gautrain.
A Retreat Designed Around the Senses
The refurbishment centres on the idea that luxury should be experienced through all the senses, from the moment guests arrive to the details they encounter throughout their stay.
The hotel’s gardens, mature trees, water features and curated art collection create a tranquil atmosphere that feels removed from the surrounding city. Inside, the redesigned accommodation focuses on comfort, privacy and quiet, with villa suites offering a more secluded experience.

The property’s approach also extends to its atmosphere and service, with an emphasis on knowing when guests need assistance and when they would prefer to enjoy their own space.
According to Marc Wachsberger, founder and CEO of The Capital Hotels, the aim was to create a place that helps guests feel more relaxed and composed, whether they are visiting Sandton for business or taking a break close to home.
“Sandton asks a great deal of the people who move through it,” says Wachsberger. “We reimagined SEVEN so that it gives something back.”
He says the intention is for guests to leave feeling more like themselves than when they arrived, describing composure as the new premium.
Dining, Drinks and Wellness
Food remains an important part of the experience at Textures, the hotel’s restaurant, where guests can enjoy fresh ingredients and carefully prepared dishes throughout the day.
Operating from 06:30 to 22:30, the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining, including tables beneath the stars. Private dining is also available for those seeking a more intimate setting.
For evening relaxation, Poison Ivy provides a lounge atmosphere for champagne, cognac and cigars, while Spa by Camelot offers guests a space to unwind away from the pace of the city.
The hotel’s accommodation options include redesigned villa suites and Jacuzzi Villa Suites, adding to the choices available for couples, business travellers and guests seeking a more private stay.
Luxury Beyond the Overnight Stay

SEVEN also caters to a range of occasions beyond accommodation, with conference and event facilities, wedding services and a pet-friendly offering. Room service is available 24 hours a day from Tuesday to Saturday.
Its location makes it an option for business travellers who want to remain close to Sandton’s commercial centre without sacrificing a quieter environment. It also offers Johannesburg residents the opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery without travelling far from home.
Rather than relying solely on traditional markers of luxury, the refreshed property places greater emphasis on how guests feel during their time there, from the atmosphere of its gardens to the comfort and privacy of its rooms.
