South African music star Prince Kaybee is preparing for one of the biggest tests of his life, and this time, it won’t be on stage.

The award-winning DJ, producer and entrepreneur is set to cycle more than 600 kilometres from Johannesburg to Durban as part of the inaugural HiPace Cycle Challenge Presented by Prince Kaybee, taking place from 13 to 15 June 2026.

The three-day journey will see the artist cover an average of 200 kilometres per day, significantly surpassing his previous personal best cycling distance of 158 kilometres.

From Recovery To Reinvention

While the challenge is physically demanding, its meaning runs much deeper than sport. Just two years ago, Prince Kaybee, born Kabelo Motsamai, suffered a serious motorcycle accident that resulted in multiple fractures and required four surgeries. The accident dramatically changed the life of someone who had built much of his identity around fitness, endurance, and long-distance running.

Faced with the possibility that he might never run competitively again, he turned to cycling as part of his rehabilitation process. What started as recovery soon became a new passion.

Through months of training and perseverance, cycling helped him rebuild both physically and mentally, eventually inspiring a challenge that would push him beyond anything he had attempted before.

A Journey Across South Africa

The route will begin in Midrand before heading through the Free State to Bethlehem. Riders will then tackle the demanding terrain of the Drakensberg and Oliviershoek Pass on the way to Pietermaritzburg before completing the final stretch into Durban via the famous Amashova route.

The challenge will conclude at Durban South Beach, marking the end of a remarkable journey across three provinces.

Along the way, supporters will be able to follow Prince Kaybee’s progress through live updates, social media content and behind-the-scenes storytelling from the road.

More Than A Finish Line

Beyond the physical challenge, the initiative also carries a charitable component, with a portion of the proceeds set to be donated to a selected charity. For Prince Kaybee, the ride is intended to inspire anyone who has faced adversity and been forced to start over.

The HiPace Cycle Challenge serves as a reminder that setbacks do not have to define a person’s future and that resilience often begins with taking the first step, or in this case, the first pedal stroke.

The Scene Feed Take

We’ve seen Prince Kaybee dominate music charts, headline major festivals, and build successful businesses, but this challenge reveals a different side of the artist. The HiPace Cycle Challenge isn’t just about endurance; it’s about resilience, healing, and proving that life’s detours can lead to unexpected new passions.

Whether you’re a cycling enthusiast or simply someone chasing a comeback story, this is one journey worth following.
