KFC South Africa has officially rolled out its boldest food innovation yet. What began as a pop-up concept in Johannesburg has now gone national, with the Kentucky Town experience arriving in over 560 stores across the country. The launch introduces a limited-time menu inspired by local tastes, culture, and global trends.
The Kentucky Town campaign first made waves in 2021, and since then, it has travelled to cities like Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and even gone global to countries like Thailand and Mauritius. But this year marks a milestone: the first time the Kentucky Town menu is available countrywide.
Limited-Time Menu Inspired by Local Palates
Available from 5 August 2025, the exclusive lineup includes seven new menu items, blending South African flair with modern fast-food creativity. Items like the Six Gun Grill Zinger Braai Burger and Hot Honey Dunked Wings take inspiration from local spices and street food culture, while innovations such as the Doritos Cheezy Nacho Burger and Chilli Choc Krusher push the boundaries of traditional fast food.
Also featured are the Jalapeño Blaze Double Down, Cheezy Loaded Fries, and Cherry Boba Bliss – a refreshing, bubble-tea-style drink that brings a unique twist to the drinks menu.
KFC South Africa’s Chief Marketing & Digital Officer, Grant Macpherson, says the brand wanted to reflect South Africa’s cultural leadership on the world stage.
“Mzansi continues to influence global trends – from music to fashion – and food is the next frontier. Kentucky Town is our way of celebrating local creativity and bold flavour,” Macpherson said in a statement.
Roadshow with Global Influencer Tyshon Lawrence
To mark the occasion, KFC is hosting a three-day roadshow from 6 to 8 August, featuring American TikTok star Tyshon Lawrence – known for his viral food content and over 19 million followers. He will be joined by South African creative and past “Mayor of Kentucky Town” Mateki2Shoes as they tour select stores in Potchefstroom, Hartbeespoort, and Johannesburg.
Their appearance aims to connect global audiences with South Africa’s thriving food scene, showcasing how KFC SA is innovating in ways that resonate both locally and internationally.
