Nationwide breakfast celebration kicks off
McDonald’s South Africa has officially announced the return of its National Breakfast Day, with the 2026 edition rolling out in phases across the country.
The campaign began on 16 March with early access for app users and will culminate in a nationwide celebration on 18 March 2026, when customers across South Africa can take part in the promotion at participating restaurants and Drive Thru outlets.
R10 breakfast deal draws attention
As part of the promotion, customers can purchase a selected small drink for R10 and receive a free Egg McMuffin®, one of the brand’s most popular breakfast items.
The limited-time offer is expected to attract strong interest, with customers encouraged to arrive early as the deal is only available while stocks last.
Early access for app users
The fast-food chain first opened the promotion to users of the MyM App on 16 and 17 March, giving its digital community a head start on the deal.
Customers who have downloaded and registered on the app were able to redeem the offer once per day during the early access period, a move aimed at rewarding loyal users while driving engagement on the platform.
Full rollout across South Africa

The main event takes place on 18 March, when the National Breakfast Day promotion becomes available nationwide in participating McDonald’s restaurants and Drive Thru locations.
The phased rollout allows broader access to the promotion while maintaining exclusivity for app users in the initial stages.
Breakfast remains a key focus
McDonald’s South Africa says the initiative highlights its ongoing focus on breakfast as an important part of the day, with offerings that include freshly prepared meals and barista-style coffee made from locally sourced ingredients.
The brand continues to position itself as a convenient breakfast destination for South Africans looking for quick, affordable meal options to start their day.
