YFM First Touch: Where sports, music and youth culture collide in Jozi

blank

Johannesburg is about to experience something fresh, loud, and unforgettable. Y, Gauteng’s biggest youth radio station, is stepping off the airwaves and onto the field with the launch of its First Touch Football and Padel Tournament – a lifestyle event that fuses high-energy sport, music, and culture in one massive youth experience.

The Game Plan: Football Meets Padel

From 12PM to 5PM on the 13th of September 2025, the spotlight is on the pitch and the courts. Sixteen football squads will go head-to-head in a knockout-style 5-a-side tournament, with matches running 20 minutes each. Expect celebrity captains, guest players, and plenty of drama as teams battle for trophies, exclusive prizes, and of course — bragging rights.

Adding spice to the mix, Y is introducing a padel tournament to the lineup. Known as one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, padel brings a social, fast-paced edge to First Touch. Fans can look forward to influencer showdowns, interactive demos, and the chance to pick up a racket and get in on the action.

The festival vibe: from courts to culture

When the sun dips, the energy flips. From 5PM to 10PM, First Touch morphs into a festival of music, food, and urban culture. Y is turning up the heat with an explosive lineup featuring Ch’cco, Blxckie, and Tkcreedlion, alongside Club Y honourees Thee Buhle, Shakes & Les, DJ Zan-D, GGoldie, Samba, and Legendary Crisp.

Add in food trucks, fully stocked bars, games, and activations from top brands, and you’ve got a party that hits every note of Jozi youth culture.

Why It Matters

First Touch isn’t just another gig — it’s about movement, music, and community. By merging sport with live entertainment, Y is creating a new kind of youth gathering, built on energy, expression, and unforgettable moments.

Scene Feed thought: Y has always been about amplifying the voice and vibe of the youth, and First Touch proves it’s not just on radio but on the ground too. This is more than a tournament — it’s a statement that Jozi’s youth culture is alive, competitive, and always ready to party.
