Kenya’s capital city just got wilder! As part of its 10-year anniversary in Kenya, Uber has introduced Uber Safari, a first-of-its-kind service that allows riders to book guided safaris through Nairobi National Park directly on the Uber app. The new product promises to make one of Kenya’s most celebrated experiences, spotting wildlife against the backdrop of a bustling city, more accessible, convenient, and sustainable.
A City Safari at Your Fingertips
Uber Safari offers two tailor-made options: a Day Safari or a Night Safari, giving riders the freedom to explore the park at different times of day. Through the Uber Reserve feature, users can pre-book their adventure and be picked up in a fully licensed, safari-ready Land Cruiser. Each ride comes with a professional guide and a three-hour wildlife experience, creating a seamless connection from Nairobi’s city streets to the open savannah.
Innovation Meets Kenya’s Tourism Heritage
According to Uber’s East Africa General Manager Imran Manji, Uber Safari is more than just a novelty; it’s an investment in one of Kenya’s most important industries. Tourism accounts for over 10% of the country’s GDP, and the service aims to drive economic growth by generating new earning opportunities for local drivers, fleet operators, and licensed tour guides. “This product is designed to make safaris more accessible and convenient for both residents and international visitors,” Manji said at the launch.

Empowering Local Operators
Unlike traditional game drives booked through travel agents, Uber Safari integrates local tour operators and fleet partners directly into its platform. Land Cruiser owners can sign up to join the service, gaining access to Uber’s booking technology and rider network. This model keeps value circulating within Kenya’s economy while supporting the livelihoods of those who rely on tourism.

Technology and Tradition in One Ride
Uber Vice President for Europe, Middle East, and Africa Anabel Díaz described the launch as a “symbol of how technology and tradition can come together.” It’s a fitting description for Nairobi National Park, the world’s only national park within a capital city, where rhinos and giraffes roam just minutes from skyscrapers.

Scene Feed Thought:
With Uber Safari, Nairobi proves once again that it’s a city like no other; where tech innovation meets untamed wilderness. Whether you’re a local looking for a weekend thrill or a visitor chasing the Big Five, the wild is now just an app away.
