Luxury watch and jewellery brand, Daniel Wellington, has officially opened its first-ever DW Café in South Africa, bringing a slice of Scandinavian elegance to Cape Town. Hosted at Alfred Square in the V&A Waterfront, the pop-up café marked a new chapter for the brand, one that merges timeless design, minimalist aesthetics, and lifestyle culture. Following global success in Sydney and Paris, the Cape Town edition captured the brand’s signature sophistication while celebrating the creativity and vibrancy of local culture.

A Celebration of Style, Coffee, and Culture

The DW Café experience was more than a showcase, it was a sensory journey. Over two days, guests were treated to curated experiences across morning, afternoon, and sunset sessions, echoing Europe’s café culture. From cappuccinos before noon to espresso martinis at dusk, every detail was designed to evoke Daniel Wellington’s philosophy of “good taste.” Cape Town’s top DJs curated bespoke soundscapes while guests explored the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, featuring sleek timepieces and refined accessories.

“South Africa is one of our most vibrant and loyal markets,” said Tobias Kvick, B2B Marketing Manager at Daniel Wellington. “The DW Café Cape Town is a tribute to that connection; an experience that goes beyond retail to celebrate culture, community, and craftsmanship.”

Timeless Design Meets Experiential Luxury

The DW Café concept was inspired by the European café scene, where conversation, craftsmanship, and culture intersect. The space reflected Daniel Wellington’s Scandinavian heritage, combining clean lines, warm tones, and thoughtful details that mirror the brand’s design DNA. Guests were invited to slow down and enjoy the moment, surrounded by modern elegance and the soft hum of city life.

“The DW Café is more than a space; it’s an expression of who we are as a brand – where timeless design meets contemporary lifestyle,” added Kvick. “We wanted guests to leave inspired by both the aesthetics and the atmosphere.”

Daniel Wellington Expands Its Footprint in South Africa

Looking ahead, Daniel Wellington plans to build on the success of the DW Café with new releases and experiential activations. Rebecka Jonsson, Head of Marketing, revealed that fans can expect new watch faces and jewellery collections as part of the upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 launch. “Our South African community can also look forward to more events like this – where design, culture, and lifestyle come together,” she said.

Scene Feed Thought: The DW Café proves that luxury today isn’t just about what you wear, it’s about what you experience. Daniel Wellington is turning coffee moments into cultural moments, one timeless design at a time.
