If you’re looking for a reason to escape the South African winter, Dubai is making a strong case. The city’s annual Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) is back from 2 July to 30 August 2026, promising 60 days packed with shopping deals, family attractions, live entertainment, food experiences and plenty of chances to win big.
This year’s edition is being billed as the biggest and most value-packed yet, with the theme “Make it a Dubai Summer.” Whether you’re travelling with family, planning a luxury getaway or simply looking for retail therapy, there’s something happening almost every day.
Shop Till You Drop
Shopping remains at the heart of DSS, with massive savings across the city.
The Great Dubai Summer Sale offers discounts of up to 90%, while shoppers can also enjoy flash sales, exclusive brand promotions and limited-time deals throughout the festival.
Families travelling later in the season can also take advantage of Back to School promotions from 3 to 30 August, with discounts on school essentials, fashion, electronics and student tech.
You Could Win a Home
One of the biggest additions to this year’s festival is the launch of Win Your Home in Dubai.
By spending AED 500 or more at participating stores, shoppers stand a chance to win one of 12 residential properties, including 11 studio apartments and a grand prize of a two-bedroom apartment. It’s one of the festival’s most ambitious giveaways yet and adds even more excitement to the shopping experience.
Entertainment Across the City

Dubai isn’t just about shopping this summer.
Music lovers can look forward to the return of the Beat the Heat DXB concert series, while families can once again visit the ever-popular Modesh World at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
There’s also plenty for foodies, including Summer Restaurant Week from 13 July to 2 August, followed by the return of the fan-favourite 10 Dirham Dish promotion, where participating restaurants offer selected meals for just AED10.
Malls across Dubai will also host live performances, family entertainment, themed installations and interactive experiences throughout the festival.
Why It’s Worth Adding to Your Bucket List
Dubai Summer Surprises has become one of the city’s biggest tourism events, giving visitors the chance to experience world-class attractions while enjoying some of the year’s best discounts on hotels, dining, entertainment and shopping.
With South Africa deep into winter during July and August, it’s the perfect excuse to swap chilly mornings for sunshine, incredible experiences and a city buzzing with activity.

The Scene Feed Take: If Dubai has been sitting on your travel vision board, this might be the best time to book that ticket. Massive shopping deals, family-friendly attractions, concerts, foodie experiences and the chance to win a home? That’s a summer holiday that goes well beyond the usual beach escape.
